Hear God’s Voice

Why Doesn’t Every Person Hear God’s Voice

Matt 11:15 – He that hath ears to hear, let him hear

Some people are afraid to hear.

Genesis 3:10 – And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I [was] naked; and I hid myself.

People who are afraid of God because of sin, must ask for forgiveness.

People have false guilt. They’ve been caught up in the sinful behavior of other people and they have laid claim to sins that aren’t their own.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Deal with the sin.  don’t let sin, guilt or false guilt keep you from hearing God.

Some people fill unworthy to hear.

People make people feel unworthy.

The lie: A person must show himself worthy through self-effacing and self-debasing actions before God will speak to that person, save him, heal him, use him, or send him a miracle.

Our worthiness before God has nothing to do with what we do or don’t do in our natural abilities, apart from believing in Jesus.

People are victims of bad teaching.

It is God who says we are worthy of His salvation, His free gift of eternal life, His blessing and His presence.

Hear what God has to say about your worthiness.

Some people decide they don’t want to hear.

People have already determined in advance that they don’t want to do, and therefore will not do anything God might tell them to do.

They don’t want to change their ideas, attitudes or behavior in any way.

They’re closed minded and close heart to God.

Bottom line: Rebellion – putting one’s self in opposition to God

Rebellious person does not hear because he simply does not WANT to hear.

Ezekiel 12:2 – Thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.

Rebellious people try to justify their rebellion by citing something they believe God has done or that God is by nature.

Some draw a conclusion that if God speaks to them God is going to ask them to do something that they don’t want, so they turn a deaf ear.

If you don’t want to hear what God has to say, you may be missing out on the greatest adventure of your LIFE!

Some people don’t believe God exists or that He speaks.

Hebrew 11:6 – Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Do you have a burning desire to hear from God?

Are you so in need of hearing from God that you will not speak or act until He tells you what to do?

Ask Him to open your ears to hear, your eyes to see, and your mind to take in everything He might want to say to you.

Is there anything in your life that you may need to remove before you can hear God’s voice clearly?

How will you go about removing that obstacle to your spiritual hearing?

Do you believe you are qualified to hear from God? If so on what basis? If not, why not?
