First of all, I am happy to say that Christian is married, and I have gained a daughter (and grand-pups). The wedding was beautiful, and we couldn’t have wished for a better day. I am so grateful that I was feeling fantastic and was able to be a part of all the activities to give them a day they so deserved. We are truly blessed.
I started radiation this week on Monday the 10th, and it has been a very tough week. I have been getting up early every morning at 6:30am to make it to the appointments. I am not a morning person, so that has been the first battle for me (lol!). The treatment process is really simple and completely painless. But so far some of the side effects have hit me extremely hard. I have been so fatigued that I basically sleep all the time now. On top of sleeping all the time, I am battling some intense nausea to the point that my appetite was effected. And I LOVE to eat really good food, so that’s a problem. Today was the first day that I have been placed on some nausea medication, and it has helped me some so that I can at least eat a decent meal. But we are finding that we need to make some adjustments to my eating schedule and the types of food that do not affect me. We are in a learning process and will figure it out. As of tomorrow, I will have 5 treatments down and 20 more to go. Or better yet, 1 week down and 4 more to go. Hopefully at the end of these treatments, I will get to ring the bell for completing radiation! Something to look forward too.
Even as I type this, I feel terrible. However, I am keeping my eyes on the prize and staying focused on the end result. I am on a race to the finish line. I am not looking to finish in first place, but I am focused on finishing.

Last Sunday I preached at my church on “Change of Plans”. Sometimes things just don’t go the way we expect them to go or the way we hoped. A few take aways…. Paul embraced his thorn. Leah praised God despite everything. Naomi learned that God redeems lost causes. Joseph remembered that God is good all the time. These are the things to focus on when when times seem tough.
