Hello Reader. This post is going to be very different than all the rest since it is not our typical devotional readings. Today, I am reaching out with a special request. I have not been able to keep up with my podcast devotionals like I would prefer in recent days. This is very hard for me to share. I am going to be vulnerable to share with you what I have going through.

For years I have dealt with abnormal ”lady issues”. The abnormal has becomes my normal. But in the last several months what is normal for me is no longer normal as it has been constant, and now I am experiencing extreme pain that keeps me home bound every day. Some days are better than other, but the really bad days will leave me in tears. Because the level of pain that I have experienced, I have seen my doctor to find out what is wrong. About 2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis. There are treatments to help normalize the lady issues, but the only treatment for the pain is a hysterectomy.

The cost of a hysterectomy can run from anywhere from $8,000-10,000. Unfortunately, I do not have health insurance, because the affordable health insurance is not affordable for my family. Even if I did have insurance, we would still have to come up with a $7,500 deductible. And that’s assuming that the insurance company would pay for it. After research that my husband has done, he discovered that a lot of insurance companies are not pay for hysterectomy as it is considered as an elective surgery. So no matter how I look at the situation, it is what it is.

I have surgery scheduled on April 6th at 12pm. After receiving some estimates of my expenses, and that’s all they are…estimates, my expenses are approaching $8,000, and I’m still waiting on some more estimates. I anticipate that my total cost will be closer to $10,000 since I most likely will have an overnight stay in the hospital given how late the surgery is scheduled for. Believe me when I say that if there was any other option other than surgery that would eliminate this pain I would take it. But it’s time that I get this taken care of so that I can get back to doing those things that God has called me to do, because I cannot do them from bed.

I would never ask for help on something like this, but I was encouraged to lay down my pride and reach out to my community of family, friends, acquaintances, and to anyone reading/listening to this. I am a firm believer that it takes a village as we live this life. God did not put us on this earth to live it alone. He designed it so that we can be here to support each other. It’s much easier to be there for others than to be the one who needs others. I also believe that there are kind-heart, compassionate people in this world who are willing to help someone in time of need. I am aware that my situation is small in comparison to what’s going on in other peoples lives who are dealing with greater aliments and considering everything else in our world right now. I continue to pray for all those suffering more than I am.
